As two self-proclaimed coffee nerds, we’ve been taking our son Bennett out for coffee since he was just two weeks old. Even our favorite baby blanket had adorable coffee cups all over it.
While we love a coffee shop moment, we’re dedicated to making excellent coffee at home. Needless to say, it wasn’t long before Bennett started asking for sips of our coffee. We knew finding a great children’s coffee machine was a priority once he turned one.
Given that he loves watching Dada run the Baratza Encore coffee grinder each morning — and is mesmerized by the circular water patterns used with the Kalita Wave (our daily brewer of choice) — we’re not surprised he’s taken well to his own toy coffee maker.
After searching high and low for play coffee makers that our kid likes (AKA plays with for at least 3 minutes at a time…)—plus a few adorable ones we spotted around internet—here’s our roundup of the best toy coffee machines we’ve found.
1. Mont Pleasant Pretend Coffee Maker
We were delighted to receive our first pretend coffee maker from Benny’s Aunt Becky. It’s made of wood (very Montessori-esque) and lets kids pretend to brew different “types” of coffee.
It features a dial knob that makes a clicking sound and comes with cups, saucers, spoons, milk, and coffee pods with cute names—a perfect first children’s coffee machine.
We also added on an accessory kit that features pretend play coffee cup toys, cookies, and a to-go carrier.
2. Melissa and Doug Coffee Set
Melissa & Doug is popular among parents—and for good reason. Its toys are known for being well-made with sturdy construction, often using high-quality materials like wood, and its coffee pot toy is no exception. This means they can withstand lots of play and last for years, even with multiple children.
So of course we were stoked when we learned about Melissa & Doug’s toy coffee maker.
This classic wooden set doubles as a Montessori coffee shop and is a simple and durable option, perfect for younger children. It includes a coffee maker, cups, and coffee pods for imaginative play.
Now we only wish there were a true Melissa and Doug espresso machine for sale!
3. Fisher Price Coffee Set (Toddler Toy Laugh & Learn Coffee Cafe)
For families with kids who like toys that need batteries, this is a hit. This electronic toy coffee maker features lights, sounds, and phrases that introduce early learning concepts like colors, numbers, opposites. and shapes through songs, sounds, and phrases.
That makes it more than just a toy coffee maker, and a good supplement when your kiddo needs a little more direction during their free play.

4. Tiny Land Kids Coffee Maker
We’ve long been impressed by the quality of Tiny Land products. Its play arch has been a wonderfully adorable addition to our baby room.
This toy coffee set features a realistic look and feel, with details that mimic a real coffee machine. It includes rotating knobs and a removable water tank to make the play experience more fun. It even features latte art and a side of cake, making it a strong contender as one of Benny’s favorite kids coffee machines.
Given the high quality of the build of this play coffee maker and its included parts, we think its one of the best toy coffee makers out there.
5. Toy Coffee Set with Sounds and Light
If your toddler is already fascinated by your morning coffee routine, the Skip Hop Zoo Bark-ista Cafe 🐶 is a charming little play set. Your little boy or girl can brew drinks using the fill-and-drop filter, press buttons for realistic coffee shop lights and sounds, and decorate pretend lattes with whipped toppings.
The 20-piece set also includes cups, drink pods, donuts, a milk pitcher, sugar, and storage built into the machine. It’s more of a tiny neighborhood cafe instead of just another toy coffee maker.
6. Toy Espresso Machine
I couldn’t resist adding this adorable bird-shaped wooden espresso machine toy to our collection of play coffee makers, even though it is more of an *ahem* creative interpretation. The colors are gorgeous, and I love that the play portafilter doubles as the bird’s beak.
Benny has taken to giving us lots of “morning clinks” with the little wooden cups, and we’ve used the discs to work on color recognition and fine motor skills like stacking, too.
Its eye-knobs and steam nozzle are interactive, swiveling and clicking. It’s wooden and has a non-toxic finish. I love how this maker encourages imaginative play and allows our toddler to mimic adult activities like making coffee.
7. Disney Princess Coffee Maker
If your little one dreams of castles instead of cafés, the Disney Princess Style Collection Espresso Machine is an easy recommendation.
It trades realism for a little extra sparkle, but still includes plenty of barista-inspired features like brewing sounds, lights, espresso pods, a portafilter (espresso maker), a milk pitcher, and a dial that lets kids pretend to froth milk for lattes.
We also like that kids can choose between a single or double espresso before snapping a lid onto the included to-go cup (honestly, make mine a triple, kid).
It’s a fun pick for Disney fans who want to play coffee shop with a little royal flair.
8. Toy Coffee Pot
Amazon’s PLAY store has an actual toy coffee pot for anyone shopping in the category. The coffee maker brews safe, nonheated water, and has a voice button to simulate the sound of water boiling.
Multi-sensory play? Yes please!
The set comes with a toaster and a cake mixer stand, too, so it can really up the “make believe game” for your little’s toy kitchen.
9. Minnie Mouse Coffee Machine
For the Disney kid who would rather serve coffee with a bow on it, the Minnie Mouse Rise and Shine Bowrista Set is a very cute option. The 10-inch play espresso machine leans heavily into the pink-and-polka-dot Minnie aesthetic, while still giving kids the basic pretend barista experience of making and serving their own drinks.
We wouldn’t choose it over the Tiny Land or Casdon machine (next on our list) if realism is the priority, but for a kid already obsessed with Minnie, the character design will probably be the main selling point anyway.

10. Casdon De’Longhi Toy ESPRESSO Machine
This toy espresso machine really surprised me with its realistic color palette and parts.
It’s inspired by legit the De’Longhi la Specialista espresso machines — if you have one of these in your kitchen, this kids’ play espresso machine is a “must have.”
The toy lets kids run their own pretend coffee shop. It needs batteries, and it features realistic sounds, moving parts, and accessories like cups, pods, and a milk jug. It even has a play coffee grinder on top! The toy comes with pods to fill the pretend double-walled coffee mugs that emulate a black coffee/americano or a cappuccino.
We love watching our little one build his social skills by playing “barista.”
